As a service provider on several internet marketing forums, every now and then I will venture into the other sections to see what people are talking about. What is interesting about the SEO industry and internet marketing in general is that there is really no "concrete" knowledge out there. With Google keeping its algorithm a closely guarded secret, all we are left with are thousands of people that speculate what works and what does not.

That being said internet marketing forums are LOADED with garbage. People that have no idea what they are talking about give advice to other people that have no idea what they are talking about, it's sad really. If you are new to internet marketing, everyone always says "read the forums, you'll learn plenty", and though there is some truth to that, to be honest there is a lot of crap out there and if you aren't careful you're going to end up spinning your wheels. So what is my advice to you? DON'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ!!!

Reading forums are great as long as you have your "BS Radar" on. What is funny about forums is that people read something, think it sounds good, and then repeat it as if it was truth. Sort of like mocking birds, a theory gains popularity, then all of a sudden it is now the truth. Don't fall into this trap.

If you want to be successful at internet marketing, you gotta think for yourself. You have to test your own theories. You have to find out what works through your own experience.

Also when evaluating what you read, take into account where the information is coming from. A lot of people see these "Gurus" that have thousands of posts and some hang on every word these guys say. But I got news for you. People that are making money in internet marketing don't spend all day long posting on forums

So take everything you read with a grain of salt (even what I post), and use your own brain. Let common sense be your guide, and you'll be surprised at how easy making money through internet marketing really is. Good luck.
